The MeLDS (Macmillan eLearning Development Schools) programme is a Macmillan CSI initiative, currently running in its 5th year.
This programme is rolled out in a different South African province every year. In 2021, it will be rolled out in Gauteng.
MeLDS is a teacher development programme aimed at improving the digital fluency of teachers teaching at previously disadvantaged schools. The focus is primarily on Foundation Phase teachers, but this year we have included Grade R as well as some Intermediate Phase teachers.
On 24 and 26 August, we held the launches at the two participating schools. Each teacher participating in the programme received a laptop loaded with the latest software as well as resources to use during the training. The principal received a laptop as well as five data projectors for use in the school.
We look forward to another successful MeLDS programme.
